Privacy policy
Pani is a general wellness drink tracker and reminder app. This policy explains what information Pani handles and how it is protected. Pani is provided by the developer shown on its App Store page. Questions can be sent to bibek@rimyan.com.
Short version: Pani has no account, advertising, analytics, tracking, or app-owned online service. Pani does not sell or share personal information. Profile information, drink logs, goals, history, and preferences are stored locally on the device for the app, its widget, and its Siri and Shortcuts actions. Pani does not transmit that information to us or to an app-owned service. If a user chooses Share progress, Pani gives one locally generated progress image to the iOS share sheet; the user decides whether and where to send it, and Pani's developer does not receive a copy.
Apple Health is optional. If permission is granted, Pani writes only plain and sparkling water entries to the Health app. Pani does not read Health data. Liquid motion is also optional and processes live iPhone tilt readings on the device only. Those readings are never stored or transmitted.
Information handled on the device
Pani can store the following information locally:
- A display name used for friendly in-app messages
- Profile choices used to select an editable population-level beverage estimate
- A yes or no safety flag for clinician-managed fluid conditions
- A clinician-guided custom target, if the user enters one
- Wake and sleep times, units, reminder settings, and favorite serving sizes
- Drink type, volume, date, time, and local progress history
This information is used only to provide Pani's features on the device. The main app, widget, and Siri and Shortcuts actions share it through an Apple App Group container. Pani does not create an online profile or transmit this information to the developer. Pani marks its local profile, settings, and drink-history files so they are excluded from device and iCloud backups.
Apple Health
Apple Health is optional. If the user grants permission, Pani can write Dietary Water samples for plain and sparkling water logged in Pani. A sample includes the water volume, time, and a local identifier used to match a Pani entry with its Health entry. Pani does not write tea, coffee, or other drinks as water, and it does not read any Health data.
Health permission is controlled by the user through iOS and the Health app. Permission can be declined or revoked at any time without losing Pani's core features. Health data is managed by Apple under the user's Apple settings and Apple's privacy terms. Pani does not use Health data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or data mining.
Notifications
Pani uses optional local notifications for reminders. Notification scheduling happens on the device. Pani does not use a remote push-notification server and does not receive a push token. Notification permission can be declined or changed in iOS Settings.
Motion
When Liquid motion is enabled, Pani uses live iPhone motion readings to let the water illustration respond to tilt. These readings are processed only on the device while the feature is active; Pani does not store, transmit, or share them. Liquid motion can be disabled in Pani's Settings and is suppressed when the iPhone's Reduce Motion setting is enabled.
Sharing progress
Share progress is optional and user initiated. Pani creates the image entirely on the device. The image contains the percentage of today's goal completed, the cumulative completed-day count, Pani branding, and a Thopa illustration. It does not include the user's display name, exact drink or goal volumes, beverage history, timestamps, reminder schedule, or Apple Health information.
Pani passes the image to Apple's iOS share sheet only after the user taps Share progress. Nothing is sent unless the user selects a destination. If a destination is selected, iOS and the chosen app or service handle the image under their own terms and privacy policy. Pani and its developer do not receive the image, destination, recipient, or a record of the share.
Data collection, sharing, and tracking
Pani does not:
- Send profile or drink data to the developer
- Automatically send progress cards or receive a copy of user-initiated shares
- Use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs
- Track users across apps or websites
- Sell, rent, or share personal information
- Use Health information for advertising or marketing
Apple may process App Store downloads, purchases, diagnostics, or other platform information under Apple's own terms. That platform activity is not collected by Pani.
Support messages
If a user voluntarily emails bibek@rimyan.com, the email address, message, and any attachments are received through the user's and developer's email providers. They are used only to answer the request and maintain a reasonable support record. Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or as required by law. A user may request deletion of a support message by emailing the same address.
Retention, deletion, and withdrawing permission
Local Pani information remains on the device until the user deletes entries where the app offers that control or removes the app. Today's drink entries can be deleted from Home > Today's sips. Removing a paired Pani water entry requests deletion of its matching Health sample. Health entries can also be reviewed and deleted in the Health app.
Because Pani does not receive a server copy of local app data, there is no developer account or remote Pani database to delete. Notification and Health permissions can be withdrawn in iOS Settings at any time.
Security
Pani uses Apple's app sandbox, App Group, permission, and HealthKit protections. No method of storage is guaranteed to be perfectly secure, but Pani minimizes risk by keeping app data local, excluding its files from device and iCloud backups, and not operating a server that receives it.
Children
Pani is a general-audience wellness app and is not designed specifically for children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other user because it does not transmit personal information to the developer.
General wellness notice
Pani is a logging and reminder tool. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. Its editable estimate is not a personal prescription or quota. Users should follow their thirst and any plan provided by a qualified clinician.
Changes
This policy may be updated if Pani's features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of the page will be updated. Material changes will be reflected in the app or its App Store listing as appropriate.
