Frequently asked questions

What does Pani track?

Pani logs water, sparkling water, tea, coffee, milk, juice, soda, sports drinks, beer, wine, and spirits. Nonalcoholic drinks count toward fluid progress. Alcohol can be recorded but does not add hydration progress.

Do coffee and tea count?

Yes. Pani gives nonalcoholic drinks full fluid-volume credit. That does not mean all drinks are nutritionally identical. Pani does not provide nutrition or caffeine advice.

What does the daily number mean?

Pani starts with an editable beverage estimate based on population values published by the U.S. National Academies. It tracks beverages, not water contained in food. The number is a starting estimate, not a personal prescription or a quota. Needs vary, so follow your thirst and any clinician-provided plan.

What if I have a fluid limit or relevant medical condition?

Select the safety flag during onboarding or in Settings > Profile & goal. Pani will stop using its automatic estimate and wait for a positive target entered from a clinician-guided plan. Pani does not calculate or recommend a medical fluid limit.

How do I log a drink?

On Home, tap the large water button to log the favorite water amount in one tap. Tap "Choose another drink" to select another beverage and amount. Favorite serving sizes are remembered.

How do I edit or delete a log?

Open Home > Today's sips and swipe left on a current-day entry to delete it. The Undo button on Home removes the most recent entry. If a deleted entry had a paired Apple Health water sample, Pani also requests deletion of that sample.

How do reminders work?

Reminders are optional local notifications. They are planned inside the selected wake and sleep window, quiet down before bedtime, pause after logging, and stop after the daily estimate is reached. Reminder actions can log the favorite water amount or snooze for 30 minutes. iOS controls exact notification delivery time.

Why am I not receiving reminders?

  1. Open Pani > Settings > Reminders and confirm reminders are enabled.
  2. Confirm the current time is inside the selected wake and sleep window.
  3. Open iOS Settings > Apps > Pani > Notifications and allow notifications.
  4. Confirm the daily estimate has not already been reached.
  5. Open Pani once so it can refresh its local reminder plan.

How does Apple Health work?

Apple Health is optional. With permission, Pani writes the actual volume and time of plain and sparkling water logged in Pani as Dietary Water. Pani does not read Health data. Tea, coffee, and other drinks remain in Pani and are not relabeled as water. Manage permission in iOS Settings or the Health app.

How do I add the widget?

Touch and hold the iPhone Home Screen, choose Add Widget, search for Pani, and select a small or medium widget. Complete Pani onboarding once before using its log button.

What can I say to Siri?

After completing onboarding, try "Log water in Pani" or "Check my hydration in Pani." The same actions are available in the Shortcuts app.

Can I share my progress?

Yes. Tap Share progress on Home to create a Pani image showing today's goal percentage, your cumulative completed-day count, and Thopa. Pani then opens the iOS share sheet so you can choose whether and where to send or save it. The card does not include your name, exact volumes, drink history, timestamps, reminders, or Apple Health information. Pani has no account, friends list, feed, or messaging service, and the developer does not receive a copy of the image or share.

Where is my data stored?

Pani stores its profile, preferences, and drink history locally on the device in an Apple App Group shared by the app, widget, and Siri and Shortcuts actions. Pani has no account, analytics, advertising, tracking, or app-owned server. Its local profile and history files are excluded from device and iCloud backups. Read the privacy policy.

How do I remove my data?

Delete current-day logs from Home > Today's sips. Removing Pani removes its local app data. Apple Health entries are managed separately and can be reviewed or deleted in the Health app. Because Pani does not maintain an online account or database, there is no remote Pani account to delete.

Is Pani medical advice?

No. Pani is a general wellness logging and reminder tool. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. Follow your thirst and any plan provided by a qualified clinician.
